Biography

Amy Pienta is a Research Professor and Director of Business and Collection Development at ICPSR at the University of Michigan. Her funded research data projects include the National Addiction and HIV Data Archive (funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse), the Health and Medical Care Archive (funded by the RWJF), the Patient-Centered Outcomes Data Repository (funded by PCORI), and the Evidence Platform (funded by the Millenium Challenge Corporation). At the University of Michigan, she is affiliated with the Michigan Center on the Demography of Aging, the Center for Global Health Equity, the Michigan Institute for Data Science, and the Population Studies Center. Pienta's primary research interests are social aspects of retirement and health transitions. She has studied women's retirement behavior, labor force exits of African-American and white men, the joint retirement behavior of married couples, and the relationship between various social statuses and health. Additionally, she studies the interrelationship of data curation and data use to ensure data are reused.
