Summer Weather and Emergency Preparedness
Stay safe this summer!
Summer can be a wonderful time for rest and relaxation. However, this season can also bring extreme temperatures and dangerous weather. This year, meteorologists are once again forecasting "sweltering" heat and dangerous environmental conditions. These can be dangerous for anyone, but especially deadly for people with disabilities. Having a plan for dealing with extreme weather is essential, but where to start? CDHW researchers have some suggestions from very reliable sources.
3 Quick Tips for Emergency Preparedness from United Spinal:
- Be informed of what types of disasters can happen where you live or travel
- Make a plan to know where you would go in an emergency (including anyone who might be needed to assist you)
- Build a kit that contains the specific things you need to survive for a few days
