CDHW community partners Lisa Franklin and Tameka Citchen-Spruce recently took part in a webinar hosted by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

CDHW community partners Lisa Franklin and Tameka Citchen-Spruce recently took part in a webinar hosted by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. “Navigating Accessible Living in Detroit” explored complexities in the housing market for people living with a disability. Speakers shared their experiences and spread awareness on accessing the system and advocating for their needs. The CDHW community partners were joined by Jill Babcock and Anna Holly.

About the Speakers

Jill Babcock

Jill Babcock, from the Detroit Housing and Revitalization Department, is an attorney who lives and works in Detroit. She is a disability rights advocate and activist. Her writing has been featured on the Detroit Free Press.

Tameka Citchen-Spruce

Tameka Citchen-Spruce, screenwriter and disability justice activist, has been advocating and raising awareness for over 15 years for access to affordable and accessible housing, fighting against voting oppression towards people with disabilities, racial and gender injustices, and health equity.

Lisa Franklin

Lisa Franklin, the CEO/Founder of Warriors on Wheels of Metropolitan Detroit, has worked for individuals with disabilities since 2008. WOW is composed of members with lived experiences in disabilities. As such, they understand first-hand the needs and issues of people with disabilities.

Anna Holly

Anna Holly is a disability justice activist.
