Biography

Audrey Montgomery (she/her) is a current Masters in Social Work candidate at the University of Michigan specializing in global Social Work and community change expected to graduate in the summer of 2022. She received her Bachelor’s in Social Work with minors in Human Rights and Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The Ohio State University in 2020. 

Her education and work experience have consisted of micro, mezzo, and macro practice providing extensive insight on the factors that impact the health and participation of people, particularly those from marginalized communities, through direct engagement with individuals, community organizing and advocacy efforts, program development, and evaluation. She has direct experience working at refugee resettlement agencies across the states of Ohio and Michigan in addition to assisting in the formation and working alongside refugee-run community organizations. These experiences accompanied with her role as a daughter of an adult who has a physical disability fosters an immense desire to address the inequities present within (and beyond) the healthcare system. Overall, she is passionate about seeking to better understand and address the unique needs for our refugee/immigrant/New American populations and advocate for ways to achieve justice and equity for all.
