IDEAL RRTC launches new Facebook Group to disseminate news to individuals with disabilities, community groups

New online presence will include discussions

The Investigating Disability factors and promoting Environmental Access for Healthy Living (IDEAL) Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) has launched a new Facebook Group, in partnership with the Center for Disability Health and Wellness (CDHW).

The Facebook page can be found here.

The new Facebook Group page is open to the public. Posts will include information about IDEAL RRTC-associated activities such as quarterly webinars; features on special clinics that care for individuals with disabilities; profiles on our community partners including the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and Warriors on Wheels; community grants awarded by the IDEAL RRTC; and published research produced by IDEAL RRTC faculty.

The group will be moderated by IDEAL RRTC members, including Michelle A. Meade, Ph.D., leader of the IDEAL RRTC and professor of Physical Medicine at U-M and Michael M. McKee, M.D., MPH, associate professor of Family Medicine and co-leader of the CDHW with Meade. It will also be moderated by members of IDEAL RRTC’s Knowledge Translation team.

Individuals who are interested in joining the group can do so but Facebook Group administrators remind members that any comments they make are public. Posts from members are subject to approval by administrators. We will not allow political conversations or posts about advocacy efforts. Disability-related organizations may share information about services or events on a case-by-case basis.

We also ask members to not use the group to advertise their own Facebook page, fundraiser or website. Posts by businesses advertising their products will not be approved. Repeated violations will result in a ban.

The IDEAL RRTC Facebook page will not provide medical information. We request that those who want to join us to be kind. Insulting, bullying or degrading comments about topics like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated and will result in individuals being banned from the group.
