We need your expertise! Your insights into your spinal cord injury is a critical part of advancing research and developing tools and techniques for improving people's lives. We can't continue to advance SCI research without your insights!

Drs. Clarke, Tate, and Meade, together with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Michigan Medicine and the Institute of Social Research at University of Michigan, have begun a new study about healthy aging in the SCI community. We hope you will partner with us for this important study!

What is this study about?

Adults who have spinal cord injuries may face different aging challenges than those adults without SCI. This study, entitled " Socio-Environmental Factors Associated with Healthy Aging after Spinal Cord Injury" and funded by the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, is designed to understand how living environments and surrounding neighborhoods affect the health of people aging with SCI in Michigan. We are exploring how factors such as: community participation, management of health and secondary health conditions, may influence aging with SCI.

How do I know if I can participate?

  • You are older than 45 years
  • Sustained a traumatic SCI more than five years ago
  • Able to speak and understand English
  • Live in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, or Ohio

What will I be asked to do?

If you are eligible to participate, you will need to complete a set of survey questionnaires over the phone, taking 60 minutes.

Will I be compensated for my time?

Yes! You will receive $25 for your participation in completing the interview.
